Twins trade for closer Matt Capps
The Minnesota Twins traded their number 2 prospect in Wilson Ramos for a…closer? The bullpen obviously has it’s issues but to trade a great prospect like Wilson Ramos for basically another Jon Rauch is a little strange to say the least. The Twins hope to have Joe Nathan back for the ’11 season so this hardly seems like the most logical scenario for giving up one of their best trade options.
Capps was 26-for-30 in save opportunities this year for the Washington Nationals with a 2.74 ERA while Jon Rauch was 21-for25 in save opportunities with a 3.05 ERA. It gives the bullpen a boost by having Rauch available as a setup guy but the future in this move just doesn’t seem to make sense.
